And the WINNER is… In Bloom Photography! Congratulations! After two weeks of voting and over 54,000 total votes for our 47 finalists, we are so excited to reveal the winner of our cover photo contest: In Bloom Photography featuring Jonathan Sharpless and Victoria Martinez, who were married on February 29, 2020. The date was very special to the couple, as it would have been the groom’s mother’s (who passed away) 60th birthday. Victoria and Jonathan’s wedding style complemented each other’s individuality with ominous and gothic features, while breaking tradition. Victoria’s hair was done by Gabriella Martinez with makeup by Rebecca Martinez. Victoria designed her own black dress, which was brought to life by Bridal Boutique & After 5. Jonathan’s bow tie was by WoodenAccessoriesRU with suspenders by JKLeatherWorkshop. The smoke bomb was an Enola Gay wire-pull smoke grenade. Gorgeous! We love this unique image for a unique issue of our magazine! You can view the entire issue online at https://bit.ly/TOBGV13I2. Behind The One Bride Guide Cover: Marine Dream
By Leslie Castro of Deux Boheme Photography
What a dream!
I was absolutely elated when I received the news that we would be photographing the summer cover on a sailboat! The news sent my ocean loving heart a-flutter!
Many thanks to Harrison’s Landing for allowing us to live out our nautical daydreams on the Nell Betty II. Our skilled captain, Pete Meyer, sailed us masterfully and confidently despite the less than perfect weather conditions. Special thanks to our skiff captain Geoff Whirty, who gave us a secondary angle to capture the full scenic beauty of our bay voyage!
This shoot was certainly one of our more challenging productions with many moving parts (including the setting), heavy fog, unstable footing, and a few wardrobe obstacles… but we had an amazing crew that helped all of the twists & turns feel like smooth sailing!
We began styling the visual direction for this marine daydream with a special dress in mind, the Lillian West ‘Shooting Star’ gown, an airy creation with bell sleeves, delicate gossamer layers and a trail of beaded stars throughout. The gown was simple but unique, and the right amount of whimsy to soften the angular lines of the setting. Our stunning dress was provided by All About the Dress in Victoria. We are always so grateful for their extra effort in attaining special and exquisite gowns. This dress in particular was a bit out of reach, and it miraculously came available at the very last minute!
We complimented the dress with a silver engagement ring from A. Kenney Jewelry and elegant statement earrings by Kendra Scott, specially selected from their newly-launched bridal line.
The bride’s look was completed with bare feet, and a bouquet made of white stargazer lilies wrapped with a silver rope as a nod to the setting. The white ‘star’ florals were echoed in the garland and surrounded by lush greenery. The gorgeous florals and special on-site installation was provided by H-E-B Blooms. Starla Dunlavey and her team are always so efficient and generous with their time and talent, and a joy to work with!
Of course, all of those beautiful details can’t come alive without our gorgeous models! Sean and Evan Hoelscher happen to be newlyweds (see spotlight pg. 18), were absolutely picture perfect, and two of the bravest, most sure-footed models we’ve had the pleasure of working with! Much appreciation to our beautiful couple for their time, energy, and absolute trust!
Our lovely bride, Evan, has natural beauty which was enhanced by the skilled hands of Malorie Jones, owner of Hair and Makeup by Malorie. It was absolutely mesmerizing watching her artistry firsthand when creating a romantic braided updo, and applying classic touches for a perfectly natural bridal beauty look.
Our groom, Sean, was truly adaptable and kind. We are ever so grateful for his flexibility and ability to meet every challenge with a smile and a helping hand, even as we were faced with trying to source a last-second suit for him due to the original suit being several sizes too small. The One’s owner, Monica Sawyer, came to the rescue! She drove out to the Island mid-shoot to bring us her husband Ryan’s assortment of suits to select from, one of which was a great fit and a perfect navy blue Kenneth Cole suit from Men’s Wearhouse. The groom’s look was finished off with a preppy bow tie from Ryan Gray’s collection (Ryan is the other half of Deux Boheme), and Sean’s own oxford brogues.
Many thanks to all of the team and contributors! We are so grateful to everyone who made this unique experience possible, and all of the support and assistance as we worked through rough patches and the foggy day. Special thanks to Raquel Espinoza, who assisted with many elements and
was a joy to work with.
All hands were definitely on deck! and we are ever so grateful.
Be sure to check out our social media sites for amazing video footage provided by Danny Grantham of Atlas Visuals.
Join us June 20th from 6-8pm at Kendra Scott in La Palmera Mall for a reception celebrating our June issue! Find out more on facebook.
Most of the time, I feel like Groom’s get the short end of the stick. I mean sure, they’re getting married to the love of their lives but most of the attention and detail is spent on the Bride. I see a lot of really simple weddings bands for Grooms, and of course guys tend to not really care when it comes to those things but why not get your man a wedding band that showcases just how unique he is?
You can add a little bling or just go with a really cool texture or engraving. After all, he’s wearing it forever so you want to make sure that it’s perfect! I hope you all enjoy these wedding bands that I found. I tried to pick some with a unique quality that stands out.
Which one is your favorite? Mine is the last one! It’s very Game of Thronesy 😉

You will see The Reserve at Dancing Elk Alexander Ranch full page advertisement on the front inside cover of the October & February issue of The One Bride Guide. When we heard about this ranch opening a wedding venue, we immediately became excited because we did not know what kind of event center they would build but we knew it would be spectacular!
This new wedding event center is not your typical event center. It’s 14,000 square foot, fully air conditioned, surround sound, and also provides wedding site accommodations for the wedding party.
The One Bride Guide Owner/Creative Director Monica McLeod Sawyer and Sales & Marketing Rep Monica B. Trevino had the honor of taking a private tour. We met with Steven Dienda, the chef on site who gave us an overview about the future plans for the inside and outside features. This wedding event center is just getting started and has already held 3 weddings! As soon as you walk through the double doors, the open space, impeccable design, you can immediately picture a fairy tale. With the wild life surrounding the event center, awesome sunsets, and location, this is an amazing place to say your vows to the love of your life and celebrate your marriage.
Keep an eye out on this event center because big things are happening out at The Reserve at DEA Ranch. If you are engaged and ready to book your wedding venue, we suggest you call The Reserve today! Contact Kristen or Steven at thereserve.kristen@yahoo.com or 361-946-4812.

I feel like monograms are a huge deal to people in the south. I guess it’s just the sheer fact that it’s fun to put your initials on your belongings, which I can totally understand. I love seeing people make their purses or backpacks completely unique! So why not take on the personalization to the next level at your wedding?
There are a lot of ways to incorporate monograms in your wedding. From your wedding invites, to table decorations or even your cake topper, monograms can be almost anywhere. You’re bound to find something that you and your groom will both enjoy!
Would you use monograms in your wedding?

I can’t help but think of my boyfriend every time I hear this song. I think he even put it on a mix tape with a bunch of other songs as a gift for our 1st year anniversary! Use Somebody by Kings of Leon is probably one of my favorite love songs. Although the lyrics aren’t that mushy and much of the song can be open to interpretation, I think it’d be a great choice of song to play at a wedding reception.
Kings of Leon front man, Caleb Followill has such a unique voice that I’m sure anything he sang would be music to my ears.Followill married Victoria’s Secret model, Lily Aldridge in 2011 in a very intimate ceremony. According to MTV, the couple met at Coachella music festival and dated for 2 years. The song was released a year after they met so maybe Followill wrote the song about Lily?

It used to be all about the cake but now dessert tables are easily the guest’s favorite aspect of your wedding.
Not only are they delicious but it also makes a beautiful display of threats that sets the vibe of your reception. A full on dessert table might not be a wedding essential because I’ve been to weddings with just the cake and cookies but I think it’s really nice to have.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to what you and your groom can put on your dessert table. You can have anything from candy to cupcakes to even pies. Also if you’re getting married in the winter then you can even have hot chocolate or coffee!
What would you include in your dessert table?
